runway sunday.

dress//mark&james by badgley mischka(rent it!) heels//sam edelman (on sale!) ring//jewelmint (different color here)

Part of my lovely Valentine's Day present from my boyfriend were VIP tickets to the finale runway show of DC Fashion Week.  I was very excited to go and experience my first fashion show with him.  What better way than to spend a Sunday surrounded by beautiful clothes with your handsome boyfriend in the French Embassy?!

I rented this amazing Mark & James by Badgley Mischka dress but I don't feel the photos even do it justice.  The dress was so prefect and fun with the different colored sequins.  Because the dress was so vibrant I had to keep everything else pretty simple, so I stuck with a simple black bag and heels.  I had an awesome time, the clothes and venue were beautiful and the show just made me want to start making plans to attend NYFW in the fall.

Below you will see a few of my favorite shots I grabbed with my phone.

plaid with a twist.

Top & necklace//j.crew factory belt & dress//h&m (similar skirt version heretights//nordstrom booties//madison harding gold link bracelt//derng(similar)

Last week was DC Fashion Week and I was super excited to attend a few of the events held.  This was what I wore on Thursday to the networking event held at Dirty Bar.  I met a ton of great people from a bunch of different company's and also made a new blogger friend, Charlotte from Winston & Willow!  All in all, it was a great night and I have to thank my sweet boyfriend for coming along with me so I wouldn't have to venture into my first networking party not knowing a soul.

I knew I would be going straight from work to the event, so I had to pick an outfit thought I thought would fit the 2.  I recently purchased this plaid button down from the j.crew factory store (I have 2 other versions of this button down and almost never take them off) and was in love with the girly-er plaid pattern and color scheme.  I wanted to wear it a different way than just with jeans and immediately thought of this H&M dress I've had sitting in my closet with the tags on it for over a year.

I really think this outfit could just sum up my style : classic but with an unexpected twist.

On Thursday I'll post my outfit and recap of the International Couture Show at the French Embassy!

Mary from Happily Grey wearing #4 and Ashley from Ring My Bell wearing #6

When I saw Ashley from Ring My Bell (and also Revenge) wearing these studded flat black leather ankle booties last year I instantly fell in love with them.  Obviously, spending over $1,000 on a pair of shoes is pretty crazy, especially when you don't have an infinite supply of cash.  But luckily, many designers and brands have been inspired by these awesome boots and have created similar more affordable versions.

I included both Mary from Happily Grey and Ashley from Ring My Bell to show how the boots can be worn in different seasons.  The boots are so versitile and can easily transition from season to season.  My favorite above is #3(on sale!) and I love knowing that I could easily transition these boots from multiple layers and chilly temps to adding a little edge to my sundresses this spring.

How do you feel about these Chloé inspired booties?

I love the fact that distressed denim is making a comeback and the clothes hoarder in me is very happy because I can finally break out my favorite old destroyed denim I've had collecting dust since high school graduation.
Wearing these jeans in winter is not a smart move since I have worn them into almost rags, so I had to think of a way to wear them without getting frostbite.  I then had a vision about textured/designed hosiery.  I went out and bought these dotted ones at Nordstrom and was so happy with how they look peeking out from the holes.  Plus, a thin layer under jeans makes them a bit warmer to wear in the winter.

Have you tried tights under distressed denim?  How did you like the look?

cold leather.

"I have nothing to wear!!" (slash I brought nothing to wear) is what I said and this outfit is the result of a last minute mall scavenger hunt. I wore this out for a chill evening out in DC with some of my boyfriends' friends.
I am not a person to rule out a look, but I usually stray from tight articles of clothing.
So, this tighter fitting skirt was a bit out of my element.   But the faux leather skirt ended up being super comfortable and didn't ride or stretch (the back is longer than the front!  If you can find it at your local H&M you should totally get it.)
I ended up having a great night dancing the night away and eating Jumbo Slice at 3 am.

Links à la Mode: Midi Leather.

My post midi leather was included in this weeks  Links à la Mode: February 5th on the IFB website!  Below is the original post along with all the other awesome links included this week.  Thanks IFB!

So, something I haven't really shared is my love of a good bargain.  These heels?  $13.  Midi dress? $12.  This awesome faux leather jacket?  $20.  I don't know how I find some of the things I do, but I wont complain.  I've been dying to wear this lanky midi dress that I scored at the end summer, but just couldn't find a way to style it.  Then finally it came to me about pairing this jacket with it and I like the way it worked out.  Now for the temps to rise a little bit so I can sport this outfit again.

When I was working in the men's department of Nordstrom many moons ago, I spotted this shirt during a shift and I fell in love.  I actually don't think I saw Michael at fist sight but once I did, I knew this tee had to be mine.  I mean, who doesn't love Michael Jackson?!  With it being a men's shirt, it needed a little alteration to fit properly.  A pair of scissors to the collar did the trick and it has become my favorite graphic tees since.  Piecing it with my wide leg trouser jeans just makes an unbelievably comfy duo.
Now, the weather needs to just warm up so I can ditch the bulky winter coat to really have the ultimate comfortable outfit.

Frugal Friday : Super Bowl Sunday

frugal friday : super bowl sunday
topPiperlime pantsForever 21 bootsPiperlime cuffsMod Cloth//Piperlime earringsPiperlime

I know most of you out there probably aren't into football (I'm not much of a pro football fan), but who doesn't love a reason to drink some beer and each tons of amazing snack food?!  Since my boyfriend lives right next to Baltimore, we will be celebrating the night in Raven country, so I need to rock my supporting color.  With me being a lifelong Orioles fan, there is no question as to who I am rooting for.  So this is a great frugal Friday outfit inspired by walking around the city and hanging out in a chill bar to watch the big game.
Happy Super Bowl weekend!
